فما هي الخصائص الواجب توفرها في معلم العلوم الفعّال، وما هي أبعاد تدريس العلوم الواجب توفرها في معلم العلوم الفعّال، وكيف يمكن تنظيم الدروس ووضع الخطط والإجراءات التدريسية بما فيها الأساليب والوسائل والأنشطة التعليمية، والتدريبات، والأمثلة التجريبية وغيرها. كل ذلك تم للمؤلف شرحه بطريقة منهجية علمية أكاديمية في ثلاثة عشر فصلاً تناول فيها: ماهية العلوم، ودور المعلم ومسؤولياته، ثم تطرق إلى الأهداف التربوية في تدريس العلوم، والتخطيط لتدريس العلوم والقواعد الواجب مراعاتها من قبل معلم العلوم عند التخطيط، بما فيها، مهارة إدارة الصف في العلوم وتطبيقاتها، وطرائق واستراتيجيات تدريس العلوم القائمة على القراءة وطرح الأسئلة التعليمية (الطريقة الحوارية)، ثم طرق تدريس العلوم القائمة على إمكانية مشاركة أكثر من طرف في عملية التعلم؛ وطرق التدريس القائمة على التعلم الفردي (الحقيبة المخبرية) وأهميتها للطالب، وخطوات التعلم (بالإستقصاء والإكتشاف) ميزاتها وعيوبها، ثم طرق تدريس العلوم باستخدام خرائط المفاهيم مع تطبيقات عليها، وأخيراً جولة على القياس والتقويم في تدريس العلوم، وتقويم تحصيل الطالب في مادة العلوم وموضوعات ذات صلة.
