ولعل عواد هو أديب العنف بإمتياز، فمعظم أبطاله ساحقون مسحوقون، قاهرون مقهورون، تقودهم رغبة محمومة في إلغاء الآخر، وحتى في إلغاء أنفسهم، وكأنهم يعلنون لنا أن الحياة غائبة ما دام الحب غائباً مستبعداً.
إن التحديق المتواصل في الجانب المظلم من الطبيعة البشرية، يدفعنا، ربما، إلى حنين عذب جميل، الشوق إلى الطهارة والبراءة والصفاء، لذلك نتساءل ونحن نعيش على هذه الأرض العربية الثكلى: متى تنتهي دوامة العنف؟ متى تقبل أعمق ما فينا ولا ننبذ الآخر؟ وهل من نهاية لهذا الليل العربي الطويل؟.
