في هذا الكتاب تسلط الدكتورة "رفيف أحمد علي" الضوء على قضية إنسانية واجتماعية شديدة الأهمية وهي "عمالة الأطفال الفلسطينيين في مخيمات لبنان... وفي الكتاب تلقى الباحثة الضوء على مخيمات لبنان الرسمية وغير الرسمية حيث تتركز النسبة الكبرى من اللاجئين الفلسطينيين، وخاصة مخيمات بيروت حيث مجتمع الدراسة الذي تناولته الباحثة، فدرست عمالة الأولاد بين التشريع والتطبيق في القوانين الدولية، وأسباب عمالة الأولاد، دوافعها، وتداعياتها على المجتمع والأسرة وعلى لبنان، إضافة الى دراسة مستفيضة عن واقع الفلسطينيون في سوق العمل اللبناني وعمالة الأطفال داخل هذا السوق، من هنا تطرح الباحثة في هذه الدراسة مجموعة من الأسئلة حول الأسباب الاجتماعية - الاقتصادية الكامنة وراء تلك الظاهرة، وطبيعة البيئة المحيطة، ودور المؤسسات المعنية، ولا سيما الأنروا في ضبط هذه الظاهرة، وكيفية التعامل معها، إضافة الى طبيعة الأعمال التي يقوم بها الأولاد، والعلاقة الناتجة عنها في سوق العمل وتأثيرها على الواقع اللبناني الى آخر ذلك من أسئلة...
تأتي أهمية هذه الدراسة من كونها اشتملت على معالجة مختلف جوانب ظاهرة عمالة الأطفال الفلسطينيين في مخيمات لبنان وبالاستناد الى دراسات وضعتها مؤسسات متخصصة، وإلى مشاهدات واقعية ميدانية، تجسّد حجم هذه المشكلة بكل ما فيها من إدانة للرأي العام العالمي الساكت عن ممارسات دولة الاحتلال التي تسببت بنكبة الشعب الفلسطيني وتشريده في الشتات. لذلك تعد هذه الدراسة إضاءة مهمة على واقع الأطفال الفلسطينيين يمكن أن توضع بين يدي الجهات المسؤولة، وخاصة الأونروا التي تعتبر المنظمة الدولة المسؤولة عن إغاثة وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين، وبالتالي تحسين الظروف الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لهم.
