لقد ترسخت فى طاغور، نزعة إيمانية صوفية تقترب فى جوهرها من روح الإسلام لقد عاش فى البنغال التى تزدحم بالمسلمين، ويقينا لو اطلع "طاغور" على روح أدابهم الدينية وتدبر مقاصدها لكان له شأن أخر فنزعته الروحانية القريبة من الله تؤهله لذلك، ومع مقطع من قصيدة له تمس حرارتها شفاف القلوب.
رباه.. ياملك السموات، لقد أفعمت قلبي بحبك، وتجليت لى بقربك. رباه.. لو لم أكن موجوداً فأين يتجلى حبك!
