سلمان الفارسي أو سلمان المحمدي (36 هـ ـ 656م)، واسمه عندما كان ببلاد فارس روزبه وقيل "مابه بن يوذخشان" وأصله من منطقة أصبهان في إيران[1] هو صحابي دخل الإسلام بعد بحث وتقصٍّ عن الحقيقة، وكان أحد المميزين في بلاد فارس بلده الأصلي. دان بالمجوسية ولم يقتنع بها، وترك بلده فارس فرحل إلى الشام والتقى بالرهبان والقساوسة ولكن أفكارهم ودياناتهم لم تقنعه. واستمر متنقلا حتى وصل إلى الجزيرة العربية فالمدينة والتقى بالرسول محمد بن عبد الله فدخل الإسلام.
