لقد جاء اختيار بعض مقالات الأستاذ محمود شاكر كنموذج للتطبيق لأنه يعد في طليعة الكتاب السياسيين في عصره، تشهد على ذلك مقالاته المتوعة في العديد من الصحف المصرية التي كانت تصدر في تلك الفترة، وسنجلو في صفحات البحث شخصية الكاتب والقضايا التي نافح عنها، ومنهجه في النقد السياسي وبنية الخطاب عنده، ووسائل التماسك، والمستويات الإنجازية المحمل بها خطاب الشيخ، فضلًا عن المضامين السياسية التي عرض لها الشيخ، والأطر المرجعية في خطابه، وسماته الأسلوبية ثم النتائج المتحصلة من ذلك، وتختلف هذه الدراسة عن غيرها في أنها تقوم على الجانب التطبيقي كأساس مهم في دراسة النظرية وتحليل الخطاب، فبجانب التنظير يأتي الأساس التطبيقي على بعض مقالات الأستاذ محمود شاكر،وهو الجانب الذي تفتقد إليه بعض الدراسات اللسانية العربية في التنظير دون التطبيق، إننا في هذا البحث ننطلق من ثلاث نظريات لغوية تضافرت أوجه عطائها للكشف عن مضامين خطاب الأستاذ محمود شاكر.. وأقصد بالنظريات الثلاث (نظرية الاتصال اللغوي، نظرية علم النص، نظرية تحليل الخطاب، بالغضافة إلى استشارة السياق والإمادة من عطائه.
