حينما اتخذ الدكتور (السيد أحمد خليل) من الفقيه العالم "الليث بن سعد" موضوعا لهذا الكتاب.. لم يتناوله سيرته الذاتية فقط، وإنما عمد إليها بطريقة تحليلية ليتخذ منها بابا يوصله إلى معرفة التشريع الإسلامي في البيئة المصرية في ذلك الوقت.. إلى جانب تحليل ومعرفة الشخصية ذاتها. فقد تناول في كتابه نسب فقيه مصر ونشأته وكذلك خلقه، ثم تناول مراحل حياته ونظرته إلى الحياة ذاتها.. ومعرفة منهجيته في التفكير وسط تيارات متعددة وأحيانا متضاربة في الفقه والتشريع ويختتم المؤلف كتابه بمجموعة من أحكام "الليث" الفقهية والتى تنوعت بين العديد من الموضوعات مثل رأيه في الإرتداد والعقد على المرأة في العدة والصيد و غيرها مما ورد في هذا الجزء من الكتاب.
