جاء الأخ الدكتور "محمد حسن عبد الغفار" لينهض بهذا العبء الجسيم في أطروحة الدكتوراه، ويتناول أحد الأئمة المجتهدين الذي اندرس مذهبه، وجاءات أراءه واجتهاداته مبثوثة في بطون الكتب، ومبثوثة في المصنفات، ليحي الذكرى الخالدة لإمام مصر وعالمها وفقيهها "الليث بن سعد" ويؤدي فرض الكفاية في ذلك عن المسلمين عامة، وعن أهل مصر خاصة، فقدم دراسة مختصرة عن حياته، ثم جمع فقهه، لكنه لم يلتزم بالمنهج الموسوعي بترتيب الاحكام والاجتهادات والأراء الخاصة به حيث أضاف جهدًا كبيرًا، وعملًا شاقًا في المقارنة بينها وبين أقوال أئمة المذاهب الأربعة، فجاءت أطروحته في هذا السفر الضخم الذي يحتاج إلى جهود عدد من الباحثين.
وجاءت الخاتمة مختصرة جدًا ويحسن الإضافة إليها بعض نتائج الدراسة والبحث، مع التخليص العام، والتنسيق للأراء، وكان الباحث موفقًا ومخلصًا في بعض التوصيات الموجزة في نهاية الرسالة، بالقيام بدراسات متعددة لمذهب الليث بن سعد وفقهه وأرائه واجتهاداته، وقواعده، وأصوله، لتكون صدقة جارية له.
