قال الاحنف بن قيس: ثلاث لا ينبغي لعاقل تركهن : علم يتزوده لمعاده, و صنعه يستعين بها علي علي امر دينه ودنياه, وطب يذهب به الداء عن جسد فنشطني ذلك الي جمع شىء من هذا الفن ووجدت الحكماء قد وضعوا في ذلك ما فيه كفاية مما الفوه وكان كتاب شفاء الاجسام لشيخنا الامام محمد بن ابي الغيث الكمراني رحمه الله من احسنها واجمعها.
ويليه في ذلك كتاب الرحمة للحكيم المقري مهدي الصبري رجمه الله وذلك ان شيخنا اجاد في البسط و كثرة الفوائد والترتيب, وصاحب كتاب الرحمة احسن في الاختصار والتقريب إلا انه لأجل الاختصار قد لا يتعرض لبعض العلل والامراض ؛ وغما شيخنا فانه كثيرا ما يذكر من الادوية التي لا توجد في بلادنا فكأنه تتبع من قبله من الاطباء خصوصا السويدي فحينئذ احببت لن انسخ من مقاصد الكتابين وغيرهما مختصرا ملخصا مشتملا علي ما يسهل استعماله من الادوية السهلة ولا اذكر شيئا من الادوية المعدومة في قطرنا اومن المجهولة عند اهل عصرنا, فان المرء عدو ما جهل , ومن جهل شيئا عاداه وصرف عنه الي ما عداه.
فان قلت لو ترك الكتابين علي حالهما ولم يجمع بينهما لكان كل منهما فيه كفاية قلت في جمع الكتابين فائدة حسنه وهى ان الشخص متي اراد ان يقف علي دواء علة وعلاجها وجد ما فيه كفاية من الادوية الكثيرة السهلة النافعة ان شاء الله تعالي مجموعا في مكان قد ذكر في الكتابين وغيرها من كتب الفن مفرقا وذلك تقريب للفائدة لان الجمع بينهما ويسير كتابنا هذا يستغني به عن بحث ما سواء من كتب الحكماء في وقت الاستعجال؛ وقد استخرت الله في وضع ذلك بعد ان امضيت النظر والتدبير وادمت التصفح والتفكير في الكتابين وغيرهما من كتب الفن مع اطلاعي علي كثير من كتب الحكماء وملازمتي لهذا الفن منذ زمان طويل.
