يتلخص مضمون الكتاب في تسليط الضوء من جهة على قضية الأصل والوافد ومن جهة أخرى يوضح لنا التلاقح بين الأفكار ومسألة التأثير الثقافي بين الأمم، أما الأصل من القضية فيتمثل في الفلسفة الإسلامية وبالضبط علم الكلام، في حين أنّ الوافد هو الفلسفة الرواقية وبالضبط علم الكلام، في حين أنّ الوافد هو الفلسفة الرواقية وبالضبط المنطق الرواقي الذي يعد جزء من أقسام الفلسفة.
هذه الدراسة التي تحاول المزج بين ما هو يوناني (رواقي) وما هو إسلامي هي دراسة جادة وهامة لمعرفة موضوع تأثير المنطق الرواقي في علم الكلام الإسلامي.
وبالرغم من صعوبة موضوع البحث إما في تنوع الشراح اليونان في البحث عن أصل مصادر المنطق اليوناني، وأما في صعوبة الترجمات للنصوص اليونانية واللاتينية إلى العربية، فتبقى الدراسة لها حضورها على الصعيد الثقافي.
ويتمثل هدف مضمون الكتاب في نقطتين هما: أولاً تحليل المصادر التي كتبت حول أصل كتب الرواقيين في المجال المنطقي على الخصوص وعلم الكلام الإسلامي، وثانياً البحث عن إمكانية المقارنة بين المنطق الرواقي وعلم الكلام الإسلامي وذلك للتوضيح أكثر حول مسألة التأثير بين ما هو رواقي منطقي، وما هو متعلق بالفكر الإسلامي من الوجهة الكلامية.
ولهذا، فإن إشكالية مضمون الكتاب تتمثل في التساؤل عن مدى حضور المنطق الرواقي وفلسفته في علم الكلام بما فيها الفلسفة الإسلامية من خلال كتابات المعتزلة والأشاعرة وإنعكاسات ذلك على الثقافة الإسلامية.
والخلاصة في ذلك أنّ مضمون الكتاب قد عرف أفكاراً جديدة سواء أكان ذلك من الوجهة التاريخية أم من الوجهة التحليلية أم من الوجهة النقدية.
وبالرغم من إختلاف الفلسفتين (يونانية - وإسلامية) من حيث منطلقاتهما، لأنّ الفلسفة الرواقية بمنطقها يبقى يوناني الأصل.
أما الفلسفة الإسلامية بمتكلمي الإسلام يبقى إسلامي الأصل، إلا أنّ النتائج المتوصل إليها في المجال الأخلاقي أو الطبيعي أو المنطقي يبقى واحداً وذلك أنّ الفكر الإنساني يبقى واحداً مهما كان من إختلاف بين الثقافات.
