لا ريب أن الدراسات في الفلسفة الإسلامية قد كثرت و لكن لا تزال حاجتنا ماسة إلى استكمال هذه الدراسات و إن هذا يضيف الى هذه الدراسات بعض التوضيحات عن الفلسفة الإسلامية بين الأصالة و التقليد رداً على النزعة الغربية التي اتهمت العرب و المسلمين بأنهم أقل من الغربيين في جميع ميادين الحضارة حتى في الفكر الفلسفي. و قد تأثر بهذه الفكرة بعض مؤرخي الفلسفة العربية الإسلامية فقالوا عن الفلسفة الإسلامية بأنها مجرد تقليد أو تلفيق أو ترجمة عن الفلسفة اليونانية, أي أن الفلسفة الإسلامية هي فلسفة يونانية كتبت بلغة عربية. و لكن من الخير أن ننصف دائماً كل صاحب حق، و ذلك بأن نبين أصالة الفلسفة الإسلامية فيما لها من أصالة و أن نرد لكل ذي حق حقه. فما أن كانت الفلسفة الإسلامية إلا ثمرة من ثمرات النضج العقلي الإسلامي الذي نجده عند الكندي و ابن سينا و الغزالي و ابن رشد و غيرهم.
