ظهر منذ عدة سنوات تجمع اقتصادي دولي يسمى ((تكتل دول البريكس)) أو مجموعة "بريك" BRIC (التي تضم البرازيل، وروسيا، والهند، والصين) التي تحولت إلى "بريكس" بعد انضمام دولة جنوب إفريقيا. وأصبحت آلية مهمة لبناء نظام عالمي جديد وان مواقف الدول المشاركة فيها متطابقة حيال معظم القضايا الدولية التي من أهمها رفض النظام العالمي الحالي ذو القطب الواحد والعمل على الاستعداد لدخول العالم الى نظام عالمي متعدد الأقطاب, ومن المتوقع أن يكون لها دور قيادي للاقتصاد العالمي في مرحلة التعددية القطبية التي تلوح في الأفق و ستكون أحد نتائج التراجع الأمريكي على الساحة الدولية و كسر الأحادية القطبية. حيث ستكون الوجه الاقتصادي للمشروع الاستراتيجي العالمي للدول الصاعدة ويُتيح لها التحكم بمجالاتها الحيوية سواء القارية أو الدولية.
