كثيرون عالجوا قضيّة التعريف؛ فإلى أيّ مدى يمكن معالجته من غير أدواته؟ وكثيرون انشغلوا بتَوهُّج مصطلح "تحليل الخطاب" في عالمنا الحديث؛ فإلى أيّ مدى ما زال هذا الاتّجاه قابلاً للتحديث؟ ربّما ينبغي، لأجل ذلك، مقارَبة القضيّتين عن طريق توحيد مشروعيهما، ومقارَبتهما بتقنيّاتٍ من خارج ميدانيهما الضيّقين، باعتبار أنّ الخطاب مجموعةُ تَلفُّظاتٍ يمكن تحويلُها تعريفاتٍ قابلة للتحليل: من هنا رمى الكتاب إلى تحليل الخطاب من منظورٍ جديد، هو ربطه بفلسفة اللغة، لإعادة ربطها بمدرسة النقد الجديد، ثمّ ربط الناتج القِيميّ بتحليلٍ كمّيّ دقيق، وذلك بطريقةٍ استقرائيّة ربطت النظريّات مباشرةً بالمُدوَّنة التطبيقيّة التي استندت إلى مقالات علميّة وإيديولوجيّة، حيث التلفّظات يعتريها الالتباس بسبب مغالطاتٍ في التعبير أو في تماسك المحتوى: فإنّ قرارَ متابعةِ قراءةِ نصٍّ ما، يرتبط بحُسن صَوغ المقدّمة المُمهِّدة، أو بصدقيّة الرأي في الخاتمة، أو بإقصاء المغالطات من أيّ نوعٍ كانت في جسم الموضوع. وبالتقنيّات التحليليّة التي اعتمدها المؤلّف، والتي بربطها بإشاراتٍ رياضيّاتيّة ولغويّة، تُدخل التعريفَ السياقيّ إلى علوم المنطق، جعلَ النصّ الأصليّ نصّاً مُشتقّاً، في حين أنّه اعتبر النصَّ التحليليَّ هو النصّ الأصليّ في مساحةِ نواياه اللامتناهية، على سبيل التماثل مع التفاضل والتكامل في الريّاضيّات، وعلى عكس المفهوم التحليليّ الشائع.
هذا العمل مهّدَ لحَوسبته، حيث المقالة تكون مدخلاً لمَخرجٍ هو الخطاب المحلَّل، الذي يتحوّل من جديد إلى مدخلٍ مخرجُه الناتجُ الآليّ لبَرمَجيّةٍ تُتيحُ نعتَ الخطاب بكلمةٍ من بين أزواجٍ كلاميّة تُماثل منطقَ الحَوسبة الثنائيّ.
