ينبغي الإشارة إلى أن هذا الكتاب يتوجه بالدرجة الأولى إلى الجامعيين المتخصصين في مجال علوم اللغة، وهذا يفترض معرفة مسبقة بمستويات القواعد النحوية الأولية. والضرورة التي فرضت هذا الكتاب تكمن في الحاجة إلى التطور اللغويين وأجواء بعض التعديلات على نظريات النحو.
والمؤلف يهدف من ورائه إلى القول بأن ما يشكو منه النحو العربي اليوم ليس عدم إمكانية التعريب، فبالإمكان من الحروف العربية التي تفوق الحروف اللاتينية ومن الاشتقاقات التي ليست موجودة في كل اللغات، أن نصوغ عدداً كبيراً من الكلمات المستحدثة. والمؤلف أيضاً يرى أن تسهيل القواعد يكون بالإفهام وطريقة العرض معاً.
وقد انطوى هذا الكتاب على طريقة مختلفة مستحدثة في التبويب والفرز والتعاقب باعتباره كتاباً تعليمياً أيضاً حيث تتم القربى بين النحو والتقنيات الحاسوبية الحديثة المبنية على تنظيم الملفات.
ينطلق المؤلف من فرز الدروس النحوية دلالياً، حيث يحدد مفهوم العناصر الاسمية، ويركز على الفضلات لا الأركان، كما يسميها، إيماناً منه بأن الأركان مفروضة على المتكلم من الخارج وليس باستطاعته إلا التلاعب بالتقديم والتأخير. وبالأركان تدخل في أكثر من درس، كاسم الموصول والإشارة واسم الفاعل، كما استثنى المؤلف كل اسم ما كانت دلالته منبثقة من طبيعته كالاسم المجرور الذي يتخذ دلالته بوساطة دلالات حروف الجر، أو الاسم المعرفة الذي يتخذ دلالته من سمة أل التعريف الملصقة به.
