الأجناس البشرية مصطلح يشير إلي السلالات البشرية. و ينتمي بجميع البشر الي النوع هومو سابينز، ولكن العشائر البشرية تختلف من منطقة الي أخري، ولقد استخدم العلماء هذه الاختلافات لتصنيف الناس أجناساً مختلفة.
وكثيراً ما أساء الناس فهم فكرة الجنس (العرق) البشري، بل أن المصطلح قد أسيء استخدامه في بعض الأحيان عن عمد، وكثيراً ما خلط الناس ايضاً بين المفهوم الإحيائي للجنس والحضارة أو اللغة القومية أو الدين، فالفروق الجسدية قد أدت بعض ببعض الناس الي الانتهاء الي نتيجة خاطئة وهي أن افراد الجماعات المختلفة يولدون وبهم اختلافات في الذكاء و المواهب والقيم الأخلاقية.
ولقد أتخذ الجنس أساساً رئيسياً للتمييز في المعاملة، أي معاملة كل جماعة للجماعة الأخري علي أنها ذات مستوي أدني منها. ويضم هذا الكتاب سبعة فصول يهتم بدراسة تطور الحياة و نشأة الإنسان خلال العصور الجيولوجية المختلفة، ويركز علي دراسة الإنسان قبل التاريخ ونظرية التطور، والعوامل المنتجة للتمايز بين السلالات البشرية، ويتناول دراسة الهجرات البشرية وتعمير القارات بعد تكوين الأجناس البشرية، ويدرس الأسس المختلفة لتصنيف السلالات البشرية و يهتم بدراسة التصنيف السلالي للأجناس البشرية مثل تصنيف دنكر، وهادون، ايكتشند، وبويد، ويدرس العلاقة بين السلالات البشرية والبيئات الجغرافيه المختلفة ويهتم بدراسة التوزيع الجغرافي للسلالات البشرية في قارات العالم.
