الجغرافية البشرية موضوع لم يلق بعد الاهتمام الكافي من الجغرافيين العرب. والأمل أن ينجح هذا الكتاب في سد بعض النقص في المكتبة الجغرافية العربية. "ولجغرافية الإنسان" هدف هو أبرز العلاقة المتطورة بين الإنسان والأرض ودور هذا المخلوق العاقل في تغيير ملامحها واستثمار مواردها. وهي إذ ترفض الحتمية الدائمة تؤمن بوجود ممكنات-لا ضرورات-يكتشفها الإنسان في سعيه الدائب لتغيير أحواله إلى الأفضل.
ويقع الكتاب في أربعة عشر فصلاً تسبقها مقدمة وتوضحها وتشرحها خرائط ورسوم وصور. وتعالج المقدمة تطور الجغرافية البشرية ومرماها وفلسفتها. ويحوي الباب الأول ثلاثة فصول يشتمل الأول على عرض موجز لعناصر البيئة الطبيعية أي وصف مسرح نشاط الإنسان. ويناقش الفصل الثاني من هذا الباب ما بين الطبيعة والإنسان من علائق متبادلة وحميمة. يليه دراسة جغرافية لسكان العالم في الفصل الثالث فيها يوجه الضوء إلى العوامل التي تؤثر في توزيع البشر.
وفي الفصول الأربعة التي يمضها الباب الثاني تبرز العلاقات بين الإنسان البدائي والبيئة من خلال مقدمة وصور لأنماط الحياة البدائية في أنواع من البيئات الطبيعية. ويأتي الباب الثالث ليصف في فصول أربعة أساليب الحياة في ظل الحضارة تبدأ بالصيد وتنتهي بالصناعة. ويحوي الباب الرابع والأخير ثلاثة فصول تدرس وسائل النقل وطرق المواصلات والعمران والجغرافية والدولة. وسيجد القارئ ثبتاً كاملاً بالمراجع في نهاية الكتاب.
