يبدأ الكتاب بمقدمة شخصية للمؤلف بعنون "قصتي مع الختان" يتبع ذلك تعريف للختان إصطلاحياً ولغوياً وعلمياً، ثم لمحة دينية عن ذكر الختان في القرآن الكريم وفي كتب التاريخ على مرّ السنين، مروراً بعملية إجراء الختان واستطباباته وأهميته في الوقاية من الأمراض ولا سيما الإيدز. وجولة حول الإعتقادات الخاطئة في مفهوم الختان عند الذكور والإناث، والعمر والزمان المفضلان لإجراء ختان الطفل، وعمليات الختان بالطرق المختلفة (التقليدية – الجراحية) ، واختلاطات عملية الختان والمشاكل الناتجة عنها، ومعالجتها، ومشاهد من احتفالات الختان في عدد من الدول العربية. وأخيراً ختان البنات – الخفض: أشكاله وأسبابه وعادات ختان البنت مع النقاش وعرض لعادات الختان في مصر ومكافحتها من قبل السلطات، وملحق صور عن عمليات الختان للمؤلف.
