لا ريب في أن فهم الحكمة المتعالية مرتهن بفهم مسائلها، وفهم مسائلها بدوره مرتهن بفهم إصطلاحاتها، ومن بين جملة الإصطلاحات تحظى الإصطلاحات الأساسيّة والمفصليّة بأهميّة قصوى في هذا المجال.
ومن تلك الإصطلاحات المفصليّة في الحكمة المتعالية إصطلاح "الحيثيّة التقييديّة"؛ ذاك أن الإلهيات بالمعنى الأعم تتكئ على مسألتين مفتاحيتين هما: أصالة الوجود وإعتبارية الماهيّة، والمعقولات الثانية الفلسفيّة، والإلهيات بالمعنى الأخص تتضمّن مسألة صفات واجب الوجود - وهي من المسائل الكلامية والفلسفيّة العويصة؛ وفهم تلك المسائل جميعاً يرتكز على الإحاطة بموضوع الحيثيّة التقييديّة؛ وعلّه ذلك كله هي أن فهم هذه المسائل يبتني على الهضم الفكري لكيفية التحقّق العرَضي للماهيّة والمعقولات الثانية والصفات الوجوبيّة في متن الواقع، وهو ما يرجع برمّته إلى تحليل الحيثيّة التقييديّة.
ومن هنا، فقد شمّر عظماء الحكمة المتعالية - كصدر المتألهين، والملا علي النوري، والحكيم السبزواري، والسيد يد الله يزدان بناه، وغيرهم - عن ساعد الجدّ في تشريح هذا الإصطلاح بشكل دقيق، وتوسّعوا في بيان أقسامه بشكل وافٍ.
وقد سعى هذا الكتاب - وبالإستناد إلى ذلك الإرث الثرّ لأولئك الكبار - إلى دراسة هذا المفهوم وتوضيح أحكامه ولوازمه وأقسامه في نظم متّسق ونسق منتظم وتحليل كل ما يتعلّق به، ليكون لَبِنَةً رصينةً في بناء السعي لفهم الحكمة المتعالية.
