هذا الكتاب عبارة عن مقتطفات من محاضرة للشيخ محمد علي الحاج العاملي، بمناسبة يوم الطفل العالمي في الندوة التي عُقدت في "المجلس الوطني للخدمة الإجتماعية) في بيروت، 20 تشرين الثاني 2013. وموضع المحاضرة هو "تزويج القاصرات وجهة نظر دينية". وفي هذا السياق يقف المؤلف حول "المراد من الزواج المبكر" ومصطلح "الزواج المبكر" أو "زواج القاصر". ويورد في هذا الباب روايات عديدة، تحث على الزواج المبكر، وأخرى معارضة، ويعتبر: رأي الأب "ضمانة" ويقول في هذا المقام "المقصود من ذلك مزيج من رأي الأب والفتاة، فلا تستقل الفتاة بقرارها، كما لا يستبد الأب برأيه، وبذلك نضمن حُسن الإختيار". ويعتبر في مكان آخر أن "الزواج: مسؤولية لا شهوة" وأن "الزواج هو علاقة بين شخصين تهدف للتوافق بيين الذكر والأنثى على إنجاب الأولاد وتأسيس أسرة، وإكمال الحياة سوية ..."، ثم يطلب من علماء الإسلام اليوم "أن يعيدوا النظر في فهم مراد الشرع وأهدافه في الكثير من الفتاوى، حتى تتلاءم مع طبيعة عصرنا وواقعنا". وأخيراً يورد بعضاً من الأحكام الفقهية في موضوع زواج القاصرات ...
