نديم غورسيل كاتب تركي ولد عام 1951, بعد تخرجه من المدرسة الثانوية درس في السوربون تخرج من السوربون فرع "الأدب الفرنسي الحديث" عام 1974, وفي عام 1979 حصّل شهادة دكتوراه في الأدب المقارن بعد الانتهاء من أطروحة عن لويس أراغون وناظم حكمت.
في عام 1977 تلقي غورسيل أعلى جائزة أدبية في تركيا، هي جائزة أكاديمية اللغة التركية.

حظيت هذه الرواية بانتشار كبير في تركيا، وترجمت حال صدورها إلى الفرنسية والألمانية والإيطالية.
