يعتبر الكتاب دراسة أكاديمية متكاملة عن نظرية دولة الشريعة عند ابن سينا من خلال رؤيته للعلاقة بين الشأنين الديني والسياسي.
وقد حاولت هذه الدراسة أن تنجز قراءةً من هذا النوع، ووفقاً لهذا المنهج، من خلال أربعة فصول: عالج الفصل الأول منها خصائص النسق الفلسفي السينوي، وبحث في المؤثرات الإجتماعية والشخصية التي أنضجته، وموقع علم السياسية فيه.
أما الفصل الثاني فقد تناول رؤية ابن سينا لأصل الإجتماع الإنساني وعلله، واختص الفصل الثالث يبحث أنواع الإجتماعات المدنية كما رآها الشيخ الرئيس؛ وعرض الفصل الرابع علاقة الإرتباط الجدلي بين الشأنين الديني والسياسي في الإجتماع المدني كما رآها ابن سينا من خلال صورتيها العمليتين لديه: النبوة، والخلافة.
وكانت خاتمة هذه القراءة نشر مخطوطة منسوبة لابن سينا تحمل عنوان "رسالة المغربان"، وهي مخطوطة لم يسبق التعريف بها أو الكشف عنها من قبل.
