عندما كنت برفقة المعلم والقائد الكبير كمال جنبلاط بزيارة للجزائر، وعندما التقينا بالرئيس الجزائري المغفور له هواري بومدين وذلك يعد هزيمة عام 1967، استقبلنا الرئيس وكان حزيناً بقوله: ماذا دهاكم في الشرق يا كمال...؟ فأجابه جنبلاط بتأوه وعصة نحن للأسف لم نقبل أن يتوطّن ديكارت في شرقنا، فبقينا نعبث في ضلال الغيبيات والتخيلات ثم أضاف، لقد رفضنا تراث ابن رشد وحرقنا كتبه، كما حرقنا ما أنتجته المعتزلة، ولم ندرك تماماً ما ذهب إليه ابن خلدون في مقدمته الشهيرة.
وقبل إنتهاء الجلسة التي طالت لساعات وشملت بحثاً معمقاً لكافة الأمور والتطورات، وكانت تربطني شخصياً علاقة مميزة بالرئيس يومدين، التفت نحوي وقال لي: يجب أن ندرك تماماً مرامي ما قاله الصديق الكبير كمال جنبلاط عن ديكارت وابن رشد، فأجبته مازحاً: ما رأيكم يا سيادة الرئيس لو أنك تدعو جميع القادة العرب مع رؤساء أركان جيوشهم ورؤساء مخابراتهم إلى لقاء هنا في الجزائر، وتجري في هذه الأثناء إنتخابات حرة في بلدانهم بغيابهم فماذا عسى أن تكون النتائج؟...
شرد الرئيس قليلاً وقال: لا أظن أن أحداً قد يعود إلى بلده حاكماً، فأردفت قائلاً: يا سيادة الرئي نحن لم نؤسس دولة وإنما أنشأنا سلطة، والسلطة تحتاج إلى من يحميها ويخفي تجاوزاتها، بينما الدولة تقضي أن تؤسس جيوشاً تحمي الأوطان.
هذه المعادلة الجدلية التي لطالما رفضنا الركون إليها في رفضنا لتوطين ديكارت وتقدير تراث ابن رشد والمعتزلة هي ما تفتقده في عالمنا المضطرب اليوم؟...
