يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن امير شاعر قد لا نوفيه حقه لو تحدثنا عنه وذكرنا مزاياه وأشعاره الخالدة في عشرات المجلدات إنه الأمير المتواضع والشاعر الرائع صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير خالد الفيصل بن عبد العزيز آل سعود، أمير منطقة مكة المكرمة في المملكة العربية السعودية.
وهو من مواليد مدينة مكة المكرمة عام 1940. وهو أحد أنجال الملك فيصل بن عبد العزيز ثالث ملوك المملكة العربية السعودية. والأمير خالد متزوج من الأميرة العنود بنت عبدالله بن محمد آل سعود وله من الأبناء: بندر، سلطان وسعود.
وقد تلقى الأمير تعليمه العم بمدرسة الطائف النموذجية، وواصل بعدها دراسته الجامعية في جامعة أكسفورد بالمملكة المتحدة وحصل على درجة البكالوريوس في الإقتصاد السياسي.
وقد عمل هذا الأمير الرائع في رعاية الشباب بوزارة الشؤون الإجتماعية وإليه تعزى فكرة غقامة بطولة كاس الخليج لكرة القدم. ومن ثم تم تعيينه أميراً لمنطقة عسير عام 1971. وفي 16 مايو 2007 عين أميراً على منطقة مكة المكرمة، التي تشمل ايضاً مدينة جدة ومدينة الطائف.
كما ويعرف عن الأمير خالد الفيصل أنه شاعر وأديب وفنان، ويعد من رموز الشعر النبطي بالمملكة السعودية. بدأ بنشر شعره تحت لقب "دايم السيف". اصدر عدداً من الدواوين الشعرية منها "حرف ولون" وأقام عدداً من الأمسيات الشعرية في مدن عربية وعالمية كما وأقام معارض فنية من أهمها المعرض المشترك الذي اقامه مع الأمير تشارلز ولي العهد البريطاني ضمن مبادرة عرفت بمبادرة عرفت بمبادرة (رسم ورعاية) انطلقت عام 1999.
