عند تصفحي أول ورقة عن حقوق الإنسان، تذكرت، كلمات رائعة... وعبارات جميلة لم أفهم معانيها ولم أدرك مقاصدها، وأنا تلميذ صغير في الإبتدائية، كان يرددها معلمي الشاب (ستار) فيقول أعظم كائن في الوجود هو الإنسان... أفضل المخلوقات الإنسان... الإنسان.
هذه الكلمات والعبارات والجمل احتلت موقعاً متقدماً في مخيلتي، وكأن معلمي لم يكتف بحفر ذاكرتي الصغيرة بهذه الكلمات فزادها سعة وعمقاً وهو يقول (الحقوق تؤخذ ولا تعطي).
هذه العبارات ظلت شاخصة في مفردات حياتي استحضرها دائماً كلما كان الصمت والسكوت حاضراً أمام ظلم الإنسان لأخيه الإنسان.
وتمضي الأيام والسنون عجلى وإذا أمر جامعي برقم (٩٦٠٣) في ٢٣٦٢٠٠٤ صادر عن جامعة بغداد يقضي بتكليفي بوضع كتاب عن حقوق الإنسان.
وكأن سحر الطفولة يأبى أن يفارقني، ما كان بالأمس كلمات وعبارات تحولت فأصبحت عناوين ومفردات لكتاب (بل لعشرات الكتب) ومرة أخرى يظهر معلم جديد في حياتي هو أستاذي الدكتور رياض عزيز هادي ليضع مفردات هذا الكتاب ولتتحول كتبه عن حقوق الإنسان مصدراً ودليلاً لما أسطر.
