الكتاب هو كناية عن تحقيق ومقارنة بين مخطوطتين : الأولى مخطوطة القاهرة الموجودة بدار الكتب المصريّة وعنوانها " مناظرات العلاّمة الفخر الرّازي في سياحته إلى سمرقند ثمّ جهة الهند". والثّانية نصّ مطبوع في حيدر أباد بالهند، والمأخوذ عن مخطوطة المكتبة الآصافيّة بعنوان " مناظرات جرت في بلاد ما وراء النّهر في الحكمة والخلاف وغيرهما بين الإمام فخر الدّين الرّازي وغيره ". تّبع الكاتب في تحقيقه طريقة المقارنة بين النّصين، حيث وجد أنّ كلّ منهما يصحّح الآخر ويكمّله، ممّا يدلّ على أنّهما استنسخا من مصدرين مختلفين، كذلك اكتفى بإثبات أسماء الأعلام وتاريخ وفاتهم.
