أبو بكر محمد بن زكريا الرازى إمام العلوم الطبية ومؤسس فكرة إنشاء المشافى المخصصة، وقد استطاع بما أوتى من مهارة وفن أن يربط بين العلاج العضوى والآخر النفسى، فكان بذلك سباقا إلى إبتداع أسلوب العلاج النفسى. كما أنه أول من وضع تقسيما للمواد الكيميائية على أساس الحيوانية والنباتية والمعدنية. وكتابه ( الحاوى) في الطب استمر تدريسه فى مستشفات فرنسا حتى القرن الرابع عشر.
