إن قيام مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية في 1981 لم يأت وليد الصدفة وإنما جاء إمتداداً لتعاون قديم بين هذه الدول إذ دفعته إلى حيز الوجود الظروف الإقليمية والدولية التي تفاقمت أحداثها أواخر سبعينات القرن الماضي الأمر الذي استوعب من حكومات هذه الدول إتخاذ خطوات عاجلة ومدروسة لبلورة عمل جماعي قابل للتطبيق.

تم في هذا الكتاب دراسة الهيكل الإقتصادي من خلال التبعية الإقتصادية ومؤشراتها التي أشارت إلى معاناة دول المجلس من وطائتها، كذلك دراسة العلاقات المكانية بين دول المجلس ودول الجوار الجغرافي.

أرجو ان يكون هذا الكتاب ومضة تسهم بالفكر الجغرافي السياسي لمنطقة الخليج العربي لما تمثله من مكانة مهمة في الإقتصاد الدولي.
