ولأنني أعشق اليامون فقد شرفني الدكتور حكمت بكتابة هذا التعريف بكتابه "اليامون" ويقيناً اعترف أنني مهما كتبت فلن أفى الدكتور حكمت حقه، ولن أفي اليامون حقها، وهذا الكتاب الذي بذل الدكتور حكمت جهوداً كبيرة منذ سنوات طويلة في تزليفه وجمع مادته، وواجه من الصعوبات والإحباطات ما كانت كفيلة إضعاف عزيمته، وثنيه عن هذا العمل الجليل لولا ما يتمتع به من إصرار وصبر ومثابرة أهلته لإنجاز هذا الكتاب الذي تحدث فيه عن اليامون تاريخاً وجغرافياً، وسكاناً، وفلكلوراً، ومختلف مناحي الحياة السياسية والنضالية والعلمية والصحية والاجتماعية وغيرها.
سيجد القارئ في هذا الكتاب ضالته المنشودة وسيجد جواباً لكل سؤال يخطر بباله عن اليامون وسكانها، حتى ألعاب الأطفال في حاراتها، ولباس نسائها ورجالها، وعاداتهم في مناسباتهم الاجتماعية والدينية وحتى خراريف الجدة حول الكانون، بحيث أن هذا الكتاب لا غنى لأحد من أبناء اليامون خاصة أو غيرها عامة عن اقتنائه والتمتع بقراءته.
