يعتبر الفلكلور الكردي مصدراً ثميناً لكل بحث يتوخى دراسة الكرد وتاريخهم بموضوعية وتجرد، ومن هذا المنطلق يتطرق الكاتب، الذي يشتغل منذ عهد بعيد على الفلكلور والتاريخ الكردي، إلى دور المرأة في المجتمع الكردي من خلال عدة أبواب، حيث يتناول تيمة المرأة في عدد من الأجناس الأدبية وهي الحكايات والملاحم والأغاني والأمثال الشعبية التي يتناقلها الأكراد حتى اليوم الراهن، دون أن يُعرف له يعتبر الفلكلور الكردي مصدراً ثميناً لكل بحث يتوخى دراسة الكرد وتاريخهم بموضوعية وتجرد، ومن هذا المنطلق يتطرق الكاتب، الذي يشتغل منذ عهد بعيد على الفلكلور والتاريخ الكردي، إلى دور المرأة في المجتمع الكردي من خلال عدة أبواب، حيث يتناول تيمة المرأة في عدد من الأجناس الأدبية وهي الحكايات والملاحم والأغاني والأمثال الشعبية التي يتناقلها الأكراد حتى اليوم الراهن، دون أن يُعرف لها مؤلف معين، كما يقول الكاتب في مقدمته، ويضيف: "إن موضوعي الفلكلور والمرأة تداخلا وأغنى كلاً منهما الآخر، سيرى القارئ أن النساء قد كونّ لأنفسهن مكانة مميزة، بل وامتلكن أحياناً ناصية القول".
ويتبين هذا من خلال الكثير من الحكايات التي تروى عن النساء القويات المطالبات بحقوقهن والمناضلات لأجلها حتى تتحقق، فالكاتب يقارن بين شتى أصناف النساء في المجتمع، وبين مختلف الصياغات التي حيكت بها الملاحم وقيلت عنها الأهازيج والأمثال، التي تقر المترجمة بمدى صعوبتها لأنها "في أصلها مقفاة وموزونة، لكن الترجمة خلخلت بنيانها" وهي لهذا تورد في الحواشي توضيحات مبسطة للأمثال حتى تقربها من القارئ العربي بصورة أفضل.
