أخيراً وضع الخليفة الوليد بن عبد الملك والقائد الأعلى للجيوش الإسلامية في أفريقيا القائد موسى بن نصير مع أكتاف طارق بن زياد مسئولية فتح الأندلس بحيث لا يتعدى عدد أفراده سبعة آلاف مقاتل بجيادهم، ورغم ذلك فإنه قد نجح في نقل هذه القوات بجيادها في أقل عدد من الأيام؛ لأنه لو كان قد طال أمر عملية النقل تلك لكان أمرهم انكشف للقوط. وبعد ذلك استطاع بهؤلاء السبعة آلاف رجل أن يهزم جيوش الملك ردريك والتي كان يقدر عددها بحوالي مائة ألف جندي.
ولهذا فإننا أمام تاريخ رجل قل أن يجود الزمان بمثله، وفي رأيي أن الخسارة الأكبر حول هذا الرجل تكمن في هذا النقص الحاد في الوثائق والروايات التاريخية التي توضح الكثير من التفاصيل حول حياة هذا الرجل الذي يعد واحداً من أهم القادة العسكريين ليس في أفريقيا أو في الأندلس وإنما في العالم أجمع. وقد حاولت قدر جهدي أن أذكر كل الروايات التاريخية التي تحدثت حول الرجل، وإن كان فيها الكثير من التضارب، وحاولت أن أوفق بينها طبقاً للأصول العلمية والأكاديمية لأصل إلى الرأي الأصوب. وأخيراً أتمنى أن أكون قد وفقت في عرض حياة هذا الرجل.
