مما لا شكّ فيه أن المغرب الأقصى هو إمتداد للمغرب العربي الذي يضم المغرب وتونس والجزائر وليبيا وموريتانيا، ومن هذا المنطلق، فإننا عندما تطلق اسم "المغرب الإسلامي" فإننا نعني مجموع الدول الخمسة، هذه الدول التي حرص أجدادنا من الصحابة والتابعين على نشر الإسلام في ربوعها، وتحصينه وتثبيت ركائزه ودعائمه.
إلا أن هذه المهمة لم تكن بالعمل اليسير أو السريع، إنّما كلّف أجدادنا جهداً وتركيزاً عميقين، بالإضافة إلى التضحيات الجمّة التي لا يمكن تعدادها، ويرجع ذلك لعدة عوامل أهمها: دمج سكان القبائل في بوتقة إسلامية واحدة - ضمن نطاق الجيش - خاصة قبائل البربر، الذين اعتادوا حياة الفوضى والتمرّد والعصيان؛ وعرة أراضي الشمال الإفريقي بما يكتنفها من جبال وأنهار وغابات؛ صعوبة إرسال الدعم للجيوش المقاتلة، وذلك لصعوبة وصول الجيوش بكافة مؤنها ومعداتها من مركز الخلافة إلى شمال إفريقيا.
لهذه الأسباب وغيرها، كانت مهمة الصحابة والتابعين صعبة إلى حدِّ ما، ولكن العزيمة صلبة لا تقهر والجهاد في سبيل الله مطلب كلّ مسلم ومسلمة، ولهذا جاء هذا الكتاب ليسلط الضوء على الصحابي "طارق بن زياد" فاتح الأندلس ذاكراً الأحداث التي سبقت دخوله إلى الأندلس من تضييق للخناق على مدينة "سبتة" وحملة "طريف" الذي بعثت لإستكشاف وإستجلاء أرض الأسبان بقيادة "طريف بن مالك" وخطبة "طارق بن زياد" في معركة وادي "لكة" والأحداث المرافقة لها...
