ماذا يحدث عندما يتحول البشر إلى ذكريات ويحملون ماضيهم في خطوات بطيئة يعيش "شفيق" مجهولاً بعد التقاعد وموت الزوجة وإنقطاع التواصل مع أولاده وحين يطالع الموظف السابق إعلاناً عن دار للمسنين لا يجد أمامه سوى الهرب من وحدته وقسوة العزلة وفي الضاحية الجديدة يذهب إلى الفيلا حيث الأرملة الأربعينية تحاول تغيير حياتها وهناك يجتمع عدد من المسنين يشكلون أنماطاً مختلفة من البشر وتثير الإعلانات عن الدار لغطاً حول الأسر والتعامل مع الآباء وما بين الطبيب وزوجته والسجين السابق والأرملة البدينة عاشقة البيتزا تتحرك الأحداث التي لا يتدخل أحد لتحريكها والجميع يشاهد ويتحاور ودار الرعاية تظل إقتراحاً تدور حولها الدراسات الإجتماعية في مركز بحثي حيث يلتقي الباحث الخمسيني بباحثة شابة ويدرك أنهما لا يختلفان كثيراً عن الراغبين في الإقامة بالدار ويمكن القول أنها رواية نقد إجتماعي وتاريخي حيث رصد المتغيرات الإجتماعية والسياسية من خلال أشخاص عاديين وأحداث تبدو عادية يتشكل من خلالها العالم.
