يتناول البحث تاثير التغيرات التى شهدها المجتمع المصرى على الحرفة فقد تركت التطورات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية الجارية على المجتمع المصري حالياً، تأثيراتها الواضحة على الحرف اليدوية عامة، وعلى حرف المشغولات المعدنية على نحو خاص، وهو الأمر الذى مازال يثير الكثير من المخاوف حول مستقبل هذه الحرف اليدوية، واحتمالات اندثارها. هذا بالإضافة إلى جوانب البحث الأخرى والتى تتنوع بين النطاق الجغرافى والبعد التاريخى والأسلوب الفنى وغير هذا مما نجده فى البحث.
