فهذا الكتاب يتبنى الوحدة فى الأخلاق الإنسانية الذى يجمع لأول مرة نتاج الفكر الإنسانى فى قضية الأخلاق ليوضح التفاعل المتبادل والتأثر للوصول إلى أخلاق إنسانية تتفق فى الغابات وتتفارق وتختلف فى المقدمات. لقد بدأ فى دراسة جيناولجيا الأخلاق بدراسة نظرية عن جينالوجيا الأخلاق فيما قبل عصر الحضارات المكتوبة وأعقباها بدراسة عن الأخلاق فى الحضارة المصرية القديمة، وأخلاق الشرق القديم عامة والأخلاق الفلسفية الرومانية وفى الفصل الثانى عرض الأخلاق فى الديانة اليهودية والمسيحية والإسلامية موضحين التفاعل والإعتماد المتبادل بينهم بعد ذلك، ثم عرض النظريات الفلسفية التى ظهرت فى إستقلال عن التفكير الدينى وعن وحى السماء لتنظر لميتافيزيقا الأخلاق.
