وهذا الكتاب يفترض أن القارئ لديه معرفة سابقة بالسلوك التنظيمي وإدارة الأعمال "على الأقل" من خلال مقدمة في كل منهم وبالتالي يحاول أن يبني عليها الفهم الأشمل والتحليل الأعمق للسلوك التنظيمي مستخدماً مفهوم القيادة كوحدة أساسية للتحليل، ويتضمن تصميم هذا الكتاب ثلاث أبواب رئيسية: الباب الأول يمثل مقدمة لفهوم القيادة وإحراز القوة ويشمل الباب الأول مقدمة في الحضارات القديمة والثاني لدراسة مفهوم الفعالية التنظيمية وعلاقاتها بالقيادة والثالث لمفهوم ودافع العمل وعلاقاتها بالقيادة، والباب الثاني خصص لدراسات نظرية القوة ويشمل أنواع القوة ومصادرها واسترتيجيات الحصول على القوة، بينما خصص الباب الثالث لدراسة نظرية القيادة وفي النهاية نأمل أن يحقق الكتاب للقارئ الاهداف التي نصبو إليها.
