نجد أن كلمة "مثل" قد ذكرت فى عدة مواضع فى القرآن الكريم. وقد درجت الشعوب على ضرب الأمثال لتوضيح المعانى وتقريبها للأذهان وحصر السامع فى معنى واحد يقصده المتحدث ليصل به الى النتيجة التى يرمى اليها.
ولما كانت الوحدة العربية هى قد لبست شعاراً أجوف يتغنى به السياسيون لتحقيق غرض ما أو مطمع ما ولكنها واقع أزلى وتاريخى ظل على مر الدهور يفرض نفسه رغم الحدود السياسية المصطنعة فإن العرب هم أمة واحدة لاتعترف بالحدود السياسية وأن ذلك يتضح من فرض المثل الشعبى لنفسه موحداً فى كل المنطقة العربية.
ذلك فقد قطعت على نفسى عهداً أسأل الله تعالى أن يوفقنى لتحقيقه وهو أننى ساساهم بجهدى المتواضع فى سبيل توضيح أن المنطقة العربية واحدة فى السودان وفى ليبيا وذلك بالتدليل على صحة ذلك بالكتب التى تبقى للأجيال القادمة دليلاً يرثه جيل عن جيل موضحاً فيها أن هذه المنطقة العربية واحدة لاتعترف بالحدود السياسية وأن ذلك يتضح جلياً فى حديث أهلها والأمثال الشعبية التى يطلقونها ومدي انطباق معانيها فى كل من البلدين الشئ الذى يجعلهم أمة واحدة وأن ما فصل بينهم من حدود سياسية ليست إلا فواصل وضعها المستعمر ليقتت هذه الأمة الواحدة. فقد وجدت أن هنالك عدداً ضخماً وقع فى يدى بمكتبة جامعة فاريونس من كتب الأمثال الليبية يحمل أمثالاً هى نفسها أمثالنا فى السودان فقمت بهذا الجهد المتواضع لعلنى أضع لبنة عن طريق الوحدة العربية.
