لعل حالة الإقتلاع واللجوء الفلسطينية، غداة الفصام القسري بين الأرض والإنسان في العام 1948 م. هي حالة فريدة، حيث وجد الفلسطيني المقتلع نفسه ينتمي إلى أقلية سكانية، بمواصفات خاصة، وفي الوقت ذاته يدرك إنتماءه إلى جغرافيا تاريخية وسياسية جرى شطبها، وابدال اسمها, من فلسطين إلى " إسرائيل "، وما أوجد لديه حافزاً وجودياً قوياً لإعادة تشكيل هويته الثقافية والسياسية والاجتماعية في وقت كان فيه حافزه هذا موضع شك وريب من قبل الوسط المحيط به، بل أكثر من ذلك، فقد كان وجوده مداناً ومحاصراً ومتهماً بشتى الإتهامات، وفي مقدمتها التفريط بالأرض. وهنالك تفاصيل دقيقة كان لابد من رصدها وتقديمها، منها إدراك التمايز بين التجمعات الفلسطينية والوسط المحيط، وما ترتب على هذا التمايز من شؤون وشجون، ومنها تبلورت ظاهرة " المخيم " بأبعادها المجتمعية والثقافية ومن ثم السياسية. لهذا كان من المهم توثيق الوجود العربي الفلسطيني من خلال الشهادات الحية وتسليط الأضواء على حالة اللجوء من مختلف جوانبها. ولغرض آخر هو نقل حقائق هذا الوجود للأجيال، لقد كان من أوهام الكيان الصهيوني ومن يقف وراءه، أن الزمن كفيل بمحو الذاكرة الفلسطينية، فقوبلت أوهامهم بأجيال جديدة أكثر وعياً وتمسكاً بحقوقهم ووطنهم
