"غرضنا هو إذاً الموْجدُ كما هو في وهْلية كلّ مرة، ومهمّتُنا: جَلبُه داخل نظرةٍ تتبيَّنه بحيث تصبح خاصيات وجوده [ناتئة] قابلة للفرز، ليس الموْجِد شيئاً من قبيل قطعة خشب، ولا شيئاً من قبيل نبتة من نباتات الأرض، ولا هو معيش من المعيشات، وليس أبعدَ منه عن الذات [الأنا] مقابلاً للموضوع [اللا أنا]، وإنما هو، تحديداً، موجود معلوم، ليس من شأنه أن يكون موضوعاً على قدر ما يكون بحقّ "موجوداً هنا".
وفي عبارات صورية: هو جهةُ مقصوديةِ وجودٍ عانيةٌ، وبما هو غرض "معالجة" ما، فهو [لا محالة] موضوع؛ ولكنّنا، بناءً على ذلك، لم نقل شيئاً في ما يتعلّق بمعرفة ما إذا كان ينبغي أيضاً أن يكون الموْجد موضوعاً لجنس التجربة التي يكون فيها هنا، والتي ينجز فيها التحليل على نحو أصيل...
وإنما يتّجه القصد في هذا البحث الخاص صوب التشكيل الفعلي لوجهة النظر إلى الظاهرة الأصيلة؛ ذلك أنه من المهمّ أن يبادر المرء إلى البصر بالموْجد في فرادته حيث لا يتوقّعه".
