ترصد الروائية إبتسام العيسى بطلتها "رؤى" في كل حالاتها، كما ترصد من يدورون في فلكها، وهي تفعل ذلك بواقعية وإقناع، غير أنها لا تخفي من صفحاتها الأولى أن هدفها ليس مجرد الإمتاع والتّسلية، فهي كاتبة مشغولة بمفهوم الوطن والإنسان.
ولا تكتفي بتصوير مجريات حياة بطلتها كما هي، بل تركز على أفكارها ومشاعرها أيضاً، فهي ترصد برهافة تمرد رؤى على نفسها وتغلبها على أنانيتها كما تقوم بتحليل أغوار نفوس شخصيات روايتها وتعالج على ألسنتهم بعض الأفكار الفلسفية دون إستغراق ولا إفراط.
في الرسالة الختامية التي تشبه صرخة أخيرة، والتي تكتبها إلى نبيل عقب عودتها إلى سورية، تصور رؤى الضياعَ المخيف الذي تخلفه الحرب، والتمزق الخطير الذي يتعرض له النسيج الإجتماعي في سورية، كما ترصد كيف كانت الأحوال في الماضي وكيف أصبحت بعد سنوات الحرب المدمرة التي طالت كل جوانب الحياة.
إن الرواية حاولت أن ترصد بدقة وأمانة، وقائع وتقلبات هذه المرحلة من عمر مجتمعها، مما يجعل روايتها نصاً تاريخياً من نوع آخر.
