دراسة تاريخية تحليلية مفصلة، يعرض الجزء الأول منها ما لم يَروَ قبلاً من تاريخ يافا خلال حرب عام 1948 بتوثيق يومياتها، وتتبع خط سير مقاومتها المسلحة منذ بداية تكوينها ومع تحولات بنيتها وحتى إنهيارها وتفككها، مستندة إلى ملفات حامية يافا والتقارير العسكرية لقادتها، لتكشف بذلك جزءاً من الحقيقة المغيّبة في صفحات خزائن تاريخ المدينة المنهوب.
في حين يتفرد الجزء الثاني بما يحتويه من وثائق تنوعت بين رسائل وتقارير وتعميمات، وتصريحات وبيانات، وشكاوى ومطالبات، وسجلات تضم قوائم بأسماء مجاهدي حامية يافا وشهدائها، وبما يتضمنه من عرض يومي لمجريات المعارك التي خاضتها على مدى ثلاثة أشهر، مرفقة بقراءة تحليلية للوقائع تنقل القارئ بمخيّلته إليها زماناً ومكاناً، وتضعه في مواجهة مباشرة مع الحدث، مؤكدة بذلك كله أن المدينة لم تسقط دون مقاومة، ولم تُهزم قبل أن تقاتل.
