يسجل هذا الكتاب ذكريات مسيرة طويلة لشيخ مجاهد، وشخصية إسلامية وطنية، برزت في سبعينيات القرن الماضي كأحد رموز المقاومة من أبناء حركة فتح. ثم أصبحت أحد أبرز مؤسسي الجماعة الإسلامية وحركة حماس في سجون الاحتلال الإسرائيلي.
في هذا الكتاب، يشرح الشيخ محمد أبو طير تجربة 33 عاماً في سجون الاحتلال، ومواقفه ومواقف الحركة الأسيرة من القضايا الوطنية وهموم الأمة المختلفة. ويسجِّل جزءاً مهماً من تاريخ الأسرى في سجون الاحتلال، وخصوصاً أسرى حماس، وما رافق ذلك من معاناة في السجون ومواجهات مع السجّانين. كما يتعرض لعلاقات أسرى حماس بالأسرى من باقي الفصائل الفلسطينية، وما رافق ذلك من حالات تعاون أو شدٍّ واحتكاك.
وتبرز في هذه الذكريات جوانب من تجارب العمل العسكري المقاوم الذي خاضه أبو طير من خلال فتح، ثم على مدى زمني أوسع من خلال حماس. بالإضافة إلى تجربته في العمل السياسي، وانتخابات المجلس التشريعي للسلطة الفلسطينية.
ويسر مركز الزيتونة طباعة هذا الكتاب الذي يخط شهادة وحكاية الشيخ أبي طير، شيخ بيت المقدس، الذي عُرف بين إخوانه بـ"سيدي عمر"؛ ليكون أحد أهم ما صدر من كتب في تجربة الأسرى والمعتقلين في سجون الاحتلال الإسرائيلي.
