"مائة وعشرون متراً عن البيت" هو أصدق تعبير إختاره الشاعر خالد بن صالح للتعبير عن الحياة الفاصلة بين الحياة والموت أو تلك التي "تفصل البيت عن المقبرة" أما الموت الذي أراده الشاعر وحاول التعبير عنه هو "موت الحياة" وليس الموت بشكله المادي، وهو ما عبَر عنه في معظم قصائد المجموعة.
في قصيدة بعنوان "غربة" يقول الشاعر: "على بعد 120 متراً من الباب الخلفي للبيت/ باب آخر.. أخضر/ ممرات تضيق بالناس/ أطفال فضوليون/ قطط عطشى/ وذباب عنيد/ يتبع النعش/ الكل يترحم على فلان بن فلان في تمتمة لا سمي/إسمي الذي حملته معي/ أو حملني معه إلى حياة سابقة/ بينما كان الشاعر منَي../ يلتقط ما تيَسر من الكلمات/ ليكتب قصيدة أخيرة/ يغرسها بجانب القبر/ فسيلة ستكبر/ وتعمَر/ في الغياب".
يضم الكتاب ثلاثة وثلاثون قصيدة جاءت في عناوين: "حديث أموات"، "هواء ثمل"، "الإعترافات الأخيرة لعائد من القبر".
