"الرقص بأطرافٍ مستعارة" نصوص نثرية للشاعر الجزائري خالد بن صالح تأتي في سياق شعري خاص يركز على المظهر الخارجي للشخصيات، إذ يقوم الشاعر بإعادة رسمها وتشكيلها من جديد، وكأنه يحاول تخليصها من واقعها، على وفق الصورة التي يريد تقديمها ويجدها تقترب من الواقع الإنساني لهؤلاء، وقد حاول عبر هذا الأنموذج الشعري الذي صنعته مخيلته الشعرية إدانة ما يجري على الساحة العربية اليوم، وإلقاء اللوم على كل من مات ضميره، وبالأخص الساسة العرب الذين تركون شعوبهم تتلظى بنيران الحروب والحاجة والفقر.
تحت عنوان "كآدم صغير يقضم تفاحة"، نقرأ: " ... مختلف إيقاع اليوم .. رقصنا، ... كدمة تمسكها خيوط من السقف (...) المدينة محاصرة بخيبة الأمل، مربعات إسمنتية وأسلاك شائكة وجنودٌ يلعنون شمس الظهيرة. عادة ما ألتقي بأشباح الذين قتلوا أو فقدوا وانتهت حكايتهم في مطلعها. أحيِّيهم بأسمائهم وكأني أعرفهم. هنا تبتلعني الشوارع. يتربّص بي تاريخٌ من الإغتيالات، أمشي قلقاً على صديقٍ تركته وحيداً يجمع فُتات الخبز ليطعم عصافير المساء (...)، كممثل فاشل في فيلم طويل، أمضي مقلباً الصور في رأسي غير آبه بنزيف الذكريات. أفكر في صديق يتدلّى من شرفة لا تطلُّ على شيء". إن الشاعر صالح يحاول تقديم صور متحركة في استقطابها للحدث الواقعي تكشف عن إحساس بضياع الأشياء العادية من حياة الإنسان المعاصر ولذلك الطابع المأساوي الذي تعيشه الأمة وتموقعه في بيئة سياسية فاسدة تستقطب كل أنواع الشرور، وتضعها في خدمتها. وكما يقول الشاعر " ... أكتب بدافع الضجر" وطبعاً: "أنتصر بلا تردد للعادي، للأشياء التي تتأخر في أن تصير عادية، لأسباب واهية".
يضم الكتاب نصوص وقصائد نثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "خطأ شائع" ، "كآدم صغير يقضم تفاحة" ، "أخف من جناح عصفور" ، "أزرق قاتم" ، "نوم في بطن الحوت" ، "هدية العام الجديد" ، " أغنية واحدة" (...) ونصوص أخرى.
