"سُعال ملائكةٍ متعبين" ديوان يضم ثلاثة أقسام (1) مجرد نافذة (2) ثمة امرأة (3) ترتيب المساء برغبات أقل. قدم لهذه المجموعة الشعرية الأستاذ "أسعد الجبوري" وقال فيها: "الشاعر خالد بن صالح يحاول اختراق الذاكرة بشفرة شعرية تميل إلى شق التربة المتجمدة للغة بنوع من الاقتحام، ليرفع الكلمات من رتبة العادي إلى مقام التحليق المثقل بالمبتكرات، وهو ما يجعل من المعاني توليفات قادمة من لغة ناضجة تملك أكثر من سياق وأكثر من مسار داخل النص (…) ثمة سعادة في الشقاء الذي يكتبه الشاعر عن نفسه وعن الآخرين. في العزلة وفي الزجاج وفي الموت وفي الطيور التي تُحلِّق فوق الرأس، فتصبح وكأنها قبعة. فالنساء تراب مناسب تم عليه بناء النصوص في غالبيتها العظمى، وهو بناء منح اللغة متانة في الصورة ومدارات بديعة في التوليد الجمالي…". ومن رياحين هذه الشعرية الرائعة نقتبس هذه الشذرة: "سعال ملائكةٍ مُتعبين" إلى نوري دومي بينما يحتضنُ مطر خفيف فستان فتاة تطل من طابقٍ علوي يميل هو، برأسه إلى الوراء مغمض العينين أو تميل به الأحلام المكدسة كحشود من يتامى العصافير والفراش والنحل والذباب… ليصطدم بغناء جارته الوحيدة في مثل هذا الوقت المتأخر من كل ليلة وككل ليلة، يكتسح الظلام الغرفة وتهيم في رأسه أفكار لا لون لها كأن تسقط الفتاة دون أن تتوقف العجوز عن الغناء ودون أن تسيل دماء على الرصيف (…)".
