الرواية بوليسية اجتماعية خيالية تدور حول جريمة قتل و البحث عن الجاني لتكشف كيف تدنت علاقات الحب لتنغمس في الشهوة ليحتار العقل ما بين حب الجسد و حب الروح فلا يدري ايهما يقوده
بطل القصة الحقيقي هو المدينة التي يوجد بها كازينو شعاره (الكازينو حيث تتحقق المساواة الحقيقية) و الذي تديره امرأة غامضة و التي قد يعتقد القارئ انها الشيطان نفسه .
