الْغُرَابُ بلاكي هُوَ أَحَدُ أَذْكَى شَخْصِيَّاتِ قِصَصِ ثورنتون دبليو برجس، وَلَكِنْ مَعَ الْأَسَفِ، عَيْنَاهُ الثَّاقِبَتَانِ كَثِيرًا مَا تُوقِعَانِهِ فِي الْمَتَاعِبِ؛ فَهُوَ يَسْتَمْتِعُ بِتَدْبِيرِ الْحِيَلِ لِلْحَيَوَانَاتِ الْأُخْرَى فِي الْغَابَةِ الْخَضْرَاءِ وَالْمُرُوجِ الْخَضْرَاءِ. وَفِي هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ نَرَى كَيْفَ يُحَاوِلُ بلاكي جَاهِدًا خِدَاعَ الْبُومَتَيْنِ السَّيِّدِ وَالسَّيِّدَةِ هوتي مِنْ أَجْلِ الْحُصُولِ عَلَى بَعْضِ بَيْضِهِمَا. وَلَكِنْ عَلَيْهِ أَوَّلًا أَنْ يُقَرِّرَ مَدَى جُوعِهِ وَمَدَى احْتِيَاجِهِ إِلَى ذَلِكَ الْبَيْضِ حَتَّى قَبْلَ أَنْ يُفَكِّرَ فِي التَّعَرُّضِ لِلسَّيِّدِ وَالسَّيِّدَةِ هوتي؛ فَالسَّيِّدُ هوتي لَدَيْهِ مِنْقَارٌ حَادٌّ جِدًّا وَمَخَالِبُ كَبِيرَةٌ، وَالسَّيِّدَةُ هوتي أَكْثَرُ مِنْهُ شَرَاسَةً! وَفِي مُغَامَرَةٍ أُخْرَى، نَرَى بلاكي وَهُوَ يَفْعَلُ الْخَيْرَ عِنْدَمَا يَتَعَاوَنُ مَعَ ابْنِ الْمُزَارِعِ براون لِحِمَايَةِ داسكي ذَكَرِ بَطِّ الْخَشَبِ وَأَصْدِقَائِهِ مِنَ الصَّيَّادِينَ.
