في حياةٍ أخرى ماكنت أنا / كنت نخلةً سامقةً نبتت عنوةً في صحراءٍ على مشارفِ الصمت/ ووزّعت ظلَّها على حباتِ الرمال / أو لعلني كنت سمرةً طيبةً توقظ الحنينَ في ليل السمّار / وتشغل الغرباء بالغناء / أو كنت سدرةً تغتسل بعشقِها النساء / أو غافةً تحرس الأفق / لعلني كنت زهرةَ ليلكٍ نبتت سهوا عند ناصيةِ شارع ما / وحرست أسرار العشاق الذين يترصدون الزوايا لاستراق قبلة عابرة / المهم أنني كنتُ في البدء شجرة / أعرف هذا الآن من رائحة جسدي ليلاً / حين يضوّع عطرا يشبه حقل رياحين أو نعنع بري / ومن تفتّح حواسي على اخضرار الحياة ومن الماء الذي يتغلغل في روحي تماماً / حين ينزل المطر.
