هو كتاب يراهن على فكرة أساسية هي قدرة الفنّ على اختراع ألعاب مقدّسة جديدة تجعل الحياة ممكنة، على الرغم من سياسات الإنعاش والقحط الأنطولوجي في هذه الأزمنة الرديئة. ومهمّة كهذه لا يقدر عليها غير الذين يواصلون الأغنيات على إيقاع الكارثة. وربّما لا أحد في وسعه أن يتماسك جيّداً في هذا الخراب الجميل غير الفنّانين والمبدعين، أو من في وسعهم تحرير الحياة حيثما يقع اعتقالها. غير أنّ الحياة في هذا العصر ما بعد الديني وما بعد الإنساني هي الموضوع الأساسي للمقدّس.
لقد وقّع الغرب الحديث نهاية الدين التقليدي الذي يتحكّم في المصير المدني للإنسانية، ودخل منذ قرن في أفق "المقدّس الدنيوي". إنّ ما حدث تحديداً هو رسم الخرائط وتعيين الحدود بين أن تؤمن وأن تفكّر وأن تبدع، بين ما يدخل تحت سقف العقل البشري وما يخرج عنه فيتحول إلى الخرافة والشعوذة والتعصّب بأشكاله. لكن هل في وسعنا اليوم رسم خرائط العقل في أوطاننا؟ هل في وسعنا العبور إلى "ما بعد" مغاير ونحن لم نبدأ بعدُ بإحصاء أشكال "الما قبل" التي تخصّنا؟ وهذه "النحن" التي أصبحنا رهائن ميتافيزيقيين في صلبها، ألم يحن الوقت لتفكيكها، أم علينا التأريخ لذاكرتنا في أفق سرديات جديدة للمستقبل؟
