يتعقد الأمر عند دراسة الرواية الحديثة والمعاصرة وأنا أعتقد بحكم التجربة أن اللعبة السردية في الرواية أساسها الحالات المتنوعة والمتعددة.
تبني الرواية عالماً له مرجعيته. وهذه المرجعية تظهر وتحتجب، تتقلص صورتها وتتضخم، ودرجة الإبداع ترتبط اساساً بقدرة الكاتب على إتقان هذه اللعبة. وفي المقابل تظهر قدرة الناقد الأدبي في إتقانه المنهج الذي يبحث في هذا الخطاب الإحاليّ، لأن قيمة الإحالة ليست في محتواها، ولكن في صيغتها ووظيفتها.
