هو جهد نحو سنواتٍ ثلاث ما نجمعه بين دفّتي هذا الكتاب، بعضه دراسات وبحوث في فكر كتّاب لبنانيين وطروحاتهم في حوار الأديان وتاريخها وعلومها وغير ذلك، وأكثره حوارات مع مفكّرين آخرين في هذه المواضيع.
بيد أنّنا، وفي سبيل عرض صورةٍ واضحة وموسّعة لمنظمة كلّ مفكّر قرنّا الحوار معه ببحوث تعرض وتناقش وتنقد احياناً بعض كتبه.
أعطيَتُ الأفضليّة للأكاديميين والجامعيين، واخترنا من بين هؤلاء روّاد الحوار والداعين إلى قبول الآخر المختلف، ورجال الدين المنفتحين أو المجدّدين من مسيحيين ومسلمين، وراعينا في خيارنا أن يمثّل المفكّرون بمجموعهم مختلف التيّارات الدينية والفكرية في لبنان.
فعسى مصنّفنا هذا يكون حافزاً لتنشيط الحوار وتفعيله في وطن وزمن مأزومَين هما بأمسّ الحاجة إليه.
